Deliveroo is a marketplace with its own riders. OrdFox is your own ordering site and app, with tools for your own drivers. They solve different problems, so the useful question isn’t which is better. It’s which orders belong where.
What Deliveroo does well
Deliveroo is one of the main delivery apps in Ireland, and it comes with its own riders. If you don’t have drivers, it lets you sell delivery from day one. It also offers pickup, and a service called Deliveroo Express that sends Deliveroo riders to orders placed on a brand’s own website or app (Deliveroo doesn’t publish its countries or prices; you register interest). Since October 2025, Deliveroo has been owned by DoorDash.
What it costs
Deliveroo’s published terms for Irish partners (Deliveroo Ireland Limited, under Irish law) describe the fees like this, checked on 6 October 2026:
| Item | What the terms say |
|---|---|
| Delivery by Deliveroo | A percentage of the order value (incl. VAT), plus VAT |
| Marketplace+ (you deliver) | A percentage of the order value (incl. VAT), plus VAT |
| Pickup | A percentage of the order value, plus VAT |
| Joining | A one-off joining fee; use your own device or lease Deliveroo’s |
The percentages themselves are in each restaurant’s agreement, not on the public page. RTÉ Brainstorm reported in November 2025 that delivery platforms charge Irish restaurants 25% to 35% per order. For a published reference point, Uber Eats Ireland lists 13% when you deliver and 30% when Uber delivers.
On a €25 order at 30% plus 23% VAT, that’s about €9.23 per order. Try the commission calculator with your own figures, or read our guide to marketplace commission in Ireland.
The contract
Here Deliveroo’s published terms are short: they continue until either side gives 30 days’ written notice. That’s a light commitment, so the barrier to changing your mix is habit and delivery capacity, not paperwork. Your own agreement may differ, so check it.
When your own ordering site makes more sense
Be honest with yourself about delivery first. Deliveroo’s biggest value is its riders. Your own channel pays off when:
- you have your own drivers, or could share one or two across busy nights;
- a lot of your orders are collection, or could be;
- you see the same names on Deliveroo week after week;
- you want those customers’ details so you can reach them directly.
With OrdFox you get your own ordering site on your own domain, card payments into your own Stripe account, a driver app with dispatch and live tracking included, a kitchen screen on the Complete plan, and automatic customer messages (emails and notifications to your own customers; not Google or Meta ads management). Plans start from €45 a month billed annually (€59 monthly), ex. VAT, on a 12-month agreement. See pricing.
If you rely fully on Deliveroo’s riders and have no way to deliver, keep that delivery on Deliveroo and start your own channel with collection.
Delivering yourself: what changes
Taking delivery in-house moves the cost from commission to wages and running costs. Before you decide, put three numbers side by side:
| Question | Where to find it |
|---|---|
| How many Deliveroo delivery orders do you get on a typical Friday and on a quiet Tuesday? | Your Deliveroo reports |
| How far are most of those customers from your shop? | Order addresses, or your delivery map |
| What would a driver cost you for those hours, including fuel or an e-bike? | Your payroll and running costs |
If one driver can cover your busy evenings within a few kilometres, your own delivery often works out. If orders are spread thinly across a wide area all day, Deliveroo’s riders are hard to beat. OrdFox lets you set delivery zones and fees by distance, so you can start with a tight radius and widen it later.
How to switch, step by step
- Split your orders: delivery vs collection, new vs repeat customers. Your Deliveroo reports help here.
- Launch your own site for collection first, with the same menu.
- Add delivery zones for the areas your own drivers can cover well.
- Tell your regulars through what you own: counter, shopfront, Google profile, social media.
- Keep Deliveroo for discovery and for areas you can’t cover yourself.

Frequently asked questions
Does OrdFox deliver my orders like Deliveroo does?
No. OrdFox has no courier fleet. It gives you the tools to deliver with your own drivers, including dispatch and live tracking for your customers, or to take collection orders.
What does Deliveroo charge restaurants in Ireland?
Deliveroo's Irish terms describe its fee as a percentage of the order value (including VAT), plus VAT, but the percentage is set in each restaurant's own agreement and isn't published. RTÉ Brainstorm reported in November 2025 that delivery platforms charge Irish restaurants 25% to 35% per order.
How much notice do I need to give to leave Deliveroo in Ireland?
Deliveroo's published terms for Irish partners say the agreement continues until either side gives 30 days' written notice (checked on 6 October 2026). Check your own agreement, as individual deals can differ.
Can I start with collection only?
Yes. Many restaurants start their own ordering site with collection and add delivery with their own drivers later. Collection orders don't need a driver, so it's the simplest way to begin.
What happens to my Deliveroo listing if I change my menu there?
That depends on your Deliveroo agreement and Deliveroo's own rules, so ask your Deliveroo account contact before removing items or changing prices. OrdFox doesn't affect your Deliveroo listing.
